so long, summer.

Hello Friends and Family,

I have made this blog to record my adventures and experiences while in Italy. In exactly three weeks from today, I will board the plane to Florence where I will live for the next three and a half months- how crazy! I have lots to do to get ready, but I thought I would take a minute to reflect on this summer and share the many aspects I will miss and the few that I will not.

I will surely miss…

- Living at home –spending time with my parents and brothers who I love dearly, sleeping in my own bed, getting to see my extended family, babysitting my favorite little boys Ryan & Shane, and spending time with my good friends.

- My internship at the Office of Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight under the Department of Health and Human Services in DC. Whew- what a mouthful! It’s been a great experience, I’ve learned a ton, and made some lasting connections.

- Daily trips to Starbucks, where I am always greeted by the same old man – “Good morning beautiful. What can I get you sugah? That will be $2.59 my love.”

- Hour-long lunches with Cece to talk about life, our internships, Into Hymn, the treas and everything in between.

- The Potbelly’s right on the corner- their delicious sandwiches and the friendly people that work there.

- Working in the same building as my dad— the gumball machine in his office provides a great mid-day snack, and the back and forth commute gives us lots of time to talk and catch up.

- Volunteering at the Kaiser Physical Therapy Clinic

- The great friends I’ve made by serving at Outback.

- The 50% discount I get, which I mostly use toward coconut shrimp ;)

- Serving my friends and family who come especially to sit in my section.

- Monday night Yoga with my Momma and other middle-aged women

I will not (at all) miss…

- My cubicle

- Sitting in traffic on a Friday evening, when I just want to be home in my sweats.

- Waking up at 6am Monday through Friday.

- Days that I work both jobs – up at 6, home around 11.

- Rude Outback-eaters that are demanding and hardly leave a tip.

All in all it’s been a crazy busy summer. 2 jobs, and 1 volunteering position makes for a lot of work and very little free time. But, it’s been worth it. Italy here I comeeeee!
